Terazi › Grocery prices in Turkey
Grocery price comparison in Turkey: which supermarket is cheapest?
Short answer: no single supermarket is cheapest for everything. Discount chains (Şok, A101, BİM) are usually cheapest for their own-brand staples; supermarkets (Migros, CarrefourSA) often win on loyalty-card and weekly campaign prices; marketplaces (Amazon, Trendyol, Hepsiburada) can be cheapest for large packs. Compare product by product, and by price per kg, litre or piece, not by pack price.
Why the pack price misleads
The same cheese is sold in 500 g at one shop and 700 g at another, and milk comes as 1 L, 6 x 200 ml or 4 x 1 L. Divide the price by the total quantity: a 700 g cheese for 425,90 TL costs 608,43 TL per kg. Migros and Getir print a unit price; Şok, A101 and CarrefourSA do not; on marketplaces it is entered by sellers and is often wrong.
The main online grocery shops
| Type | Often cheapest for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Discount chains: Şok, A101, BİM | Own-brand staples: milk, flour, pasta, cleaning | No unit price on the site; conditional campaigns ("over 50 TL") |
| Supermarkets: Migros, Macrocenter, CarrefourSA | Weekly campaigns and card prices (Money, CarrefourSA Kart) | The card price is shown apart from the shelf price |
| Quick delivery: Getir | Campaign items | Delivery fee and minimum basket |
| Marketplaces: Amazon, Trendyol, Hepsiburada | Large and multi-packs, detergent, diapers | Seller unit prices are often wrong |
BİM does not sell groceries online, so it cannot be compared on the web.
How to find the cheapest option
- Compare by price per kg, litre or piece (eggs, diapers and toilet rolls per piece).
- Compare the same variant: full-fat with full-fat, lactose-free with lactose-free.
- Use the price you will pay: card prices and basket campaigns count only if you meet the condition.
- Add the delivery fee last; it belongs to the order, not the product.
Doing it automatically
Terazi is a free Chrome extension that does this inside the shop's own website. It sorts products by price per kg, litre or piece, writes the unit price on every product, and adds a badge: ✓ En ucuz burada (cheapest here), Aynısı Şok'ta %6 daha ucuz (the same product is 6% cheaper at Şok) or Benzeri Migros'ta %19 daha ucuz (a similar product is 19% cheaper per kg at Migros). Click the badge to open that product. It works on Migros, Macrocenter, Şok, A101, CarrefourSA, Getir, Amazon Turkey, Hepsiburada and Trendyol, collects no personal data, and needs no account.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest supermarket in Turkey?
There is no single answer: prices change by product and by week. Discount chains (Şok, A101, BİM) are usually cheapest for own-brand staples, while supermarkets (Migros, CarrefourSA) are often cheapest on campaign and loyalty-card items. Compare each product by price per kg or litre.
Is Migros more expensive than Şok or A101?
For many staples, yes; for campaign items with the Money card, Migros is often the cheapest. Terazi shows, on each Migros product, whether the same or a similar product is cheaper at Şok or another shop.
How do I compare grocery prices per kg in Turkey?
Divide the price by the total weight in kg (or volume in litres): 425,90 TL for 700 g is 425,90 / 0,7 = 608,43 TL per kg. For multi-packs use the total: 4 x 1 L is 4 L. Terazi calculates this on every product automatically.
Is there an app or extension that compares Turkish supermarket prices?
Terazi is a free Chrome extension for the Turkish online grocery sites and marketplaces listed above. Price comparison websites such as Akakçe and Cimri compare prices on their own site; Terazi works inside the shop you are using and compares by unit price.
